Camber Plate Install
Cut the template from the instructions
Remove the top hat nuts and put the template in place
Use a pointed center punch or similar to mark the center of the bolt holes
A center punch will help you locate and center the drill bit
Start with a small bit like this 5/64″ and LIFT THE CAR / drop the strut or you will drill the top hat
Then a large bit for the bolt size like this 7/32″ bit
Open the final 6 template holes to allow the hardware through
Cut the inside box of the template
You can discard the cut out portion
You can position the cut template using the camber plate bolts through the holes you just drilled
Trace the inside of the template
You now have a cutting guide
We cut on the lines with grinder cutting wheel (don’t cut past the corners) and finish cutting at the corners with a sawzall or jigsaw or hacksaw blade for clean corners
Test clearance and trim and clean up your cuts as needed, ream out any offset holes
Bolt it all together and once again test travel and clearances
You can trim back any portions of strut tower still showing like on the right here
In the rear you can trim the vinyl only as needed for a clean appearance
Coilover Install - Front
Front adapters must be modified to clear the hump behind the strut tube
You will weld above this, so the cut does not need to be pretty
Rounding the bottom to match the curve
The hub should be secured on a flat and level surface
The hump we made room for
We found the strut tube to be perpendicular to the bottom of the hub (where it sits on the ball joint)
First measure the work surface
The top of the adapter should be in the same plane (exactly the same measurement) as the work surface
Measure the other direction
Compare to the work surface (if our surface was flat and level, the top of the adapter should be tacked so it’s flat and level also)
A magnetic protractor works great too
Coilover Install - Rear
Measure the relation between hub and strut, difference should be 15 degrees
Use a lug nut or 2 to hold the drum on tight, then measure, difference should be 15 degrees
Again, a magnetic protractor works well (if you have good eyesight)

NOTE: Make sure you position the adapters correctly. 240Z and Early 260Z owners should receive four 6″ adapters. Late 260Z & 280Z owners should receive two 6″ adapters for the front and two 9″ adapters for the rear. You’ll be able to weld directly to the hub, BUT DOUBLE CHECK YOUR LENGTH AND DESIRED ADJUSTMENT RANGE! The strut should be threaded into the adapter at least 1.5″-2.0″ for strength and stability. MAKE SURE YOUR ADAPTERS ARE THE CORRECT HEIGHT for the stance you want to achieve.
